PROJECT

CELTIPLAST

DIJON - FRANCE

Industrial refrigeration for energy-efficient process cooling

For Celtiplast, a French manufacturer of plastic solutions for applications such as safety and impact protection systems, FAC delivered a fully customised industrial refrigeration installation.

The system was designed to ensure stable cooling of the production process while improving the site’s overall energy efficiency.

Thanks to this solution, the return on investment is estimated at around four years. Despite relatively low energy prices in France, the projected savings after ten years amount to approximately €450,000.

Technical analysis

Following a detailed technical study covering capacity, flow rates, temperature differences and buffer requirements, the installation was equipped with a Carrier AQUASNAP chiller (30RBP 270R – 280 kW) in low-noise execution, featuring a Super Enviroshield coating and the BlueEdge digital monitoring system.

The chiller is combined with a LU-VE Alfa Blue dry cooler (BDDSE1004,2DD140 – 300 kW), equipped with marine-grade fins and 0–10 V control for optimal regulation.

Refrigeration circuit

To optimise heat transfer and improve water quality, Alfa Laval heat exchangers (PW TL10-PFM, 109 plates – 300 kW) were integrated, along with pump systems for both the chiller and process water circuits (TP100-160/2 and NB 65-150/165).

All piping was executed in stainless steel, with separate collector circuits for process water, glycol and suction.

The process water circuit also includes expansion vessels, filling systems, control instrumentation, as well as the necessary valves and filters.

The installation was insulated and equipped with vibration dampers to ensure stable operation.

Automation

The system is operated by a RITTAL control panel equipped with a Siemens PLC, soft starters, contactors and sensors from DC and JUMO.

Additional features include alarm handling, data logging and a free cooling function.

Project delivery

FAC managed the project from start to finish, from design and assembly to testing, transport and on-site installation in Dijon.

A complete technical file was delivered upon completion, including P&ID diagrams and 3D installation drawings.

Ongoing support

FAC continues to support the installation through maintenance and spare parts supply, ensuring reliable and efficient operation over the long term.
