PROJECT

BRASSERIE DU BOCQ

YVOIR - BELGIUM

Industrial refrigeration with heat recovery

For Brasserie du Bocq in Yvoir, FAC delivered a new energy-efficient refrigeration system with integrated heat recovery.
The installation was designed to ensure stable cooling of the production process while improving the site’s overall energy performance.

It was integrated into the existing brewery infrastructure without disrupting the systems already in place.

Technical analysis

Based on a detailed technical study, covering capacity, flow rates, temperature differences and buffer requirements, the system was equipped with two Carrier chillers (30RBP-270R), each delivering 185 kW at -3°C and operating on refrigerant R32.

These units combine high energy performance (SEER 3.38) with acoustic insulation, reliable operation down to -20°C and a protective coating for outdoor conditions.

Refrigeration circuit

The system is connected to a 2,500-litre Lorivan buffer tank with PE lining and flanged connections.

It also includes Grundfos pumps mounted on a stainless steel frame, along with expansion vessels, filters, filling systems and the necessary control instrumentation.

All piping was installed in stainless steel and integrated into the brewery’s existing installation.

The system is insulated with 19 mm Armaflex, finished with aluminium cladding and mounted on a solid galvanised support structure.

The existing buffer tank was also adapted, converting it from an open to a closed circuit.

Automation

The installation is controlled via BACnet IP and Modbus for both system control and data communication.

Integrated pressure, flow and temperature sensors ensure accurate regulation and stable performance at all times.

Project delivery

FAC managed the project from start to finish, including engineering, planning, installation and commissioning on site.

Ongoing support

FAC continues to support the installation through maintenance and spare parts supply, ensuring reliably and efficient operation over the long term.
