PROJECT

RADIANT COLOR

HOUTHALEN - HELCHTEREN - BELGIUM

Industrial refrigeration system with container-based setup

For Radiant Color, a specialist in fluorescent pigments, FAC delivered a custom-built refrigeration installation tailored to the site.

The project combines engineering, a purpose-built steel structure and advanced automation into one integrated solution designed for reliable and efficient operation.

Technical analysis

The installation combines a chiller with two dry coolers, mounted on a galvanised steel structure (HEA/IPE), fitted with custom grating, safety railings and access stairs, all in line with current CE standards.

Structural reinforcements were added to compensate for deflection and ensure the stability of the entire construction.

Technical container installation

A 20 ft technical container was set up as the central refrigeration unit.

It houses the pump systems, ventilation and lighting, all configured to match the required pressure and temperature specifications of the installation.

An integrated glycol-based heating system ensures reliable winter operation. Clear signage and visual coding were also implemented.

Automation

The container includes an electrical control panel with PLC control and a TP touchscreen interface.

The system is equipped with a range of sensors and measuring instruments, including pressure and temperature sensors from JUMO.

All wiring was designed and documented with both digital and hard-copy EPLAN schematics.

Project delivery

FAC managed the project from start to finish, from on-site measurements, design and engineering of piping routes and steel structures to installation, cabling, transport planning and commissioning on site.

This also included coordination of key suppliers, including Carrier, Grundfos and LU-VE Alfa, as well as the organization of a temporary rental solution (chiller, dry cooler and pump unit) during the project.

Ongoing support

The installation was designed with maintenance and seasonal operation in mind.

Once the system was fully operational, the temporary rental setup was removed.
